Lavenham Art Society Exhibition

Our recent LAS exhibition held in August 2023, was a great success, we had 43 of our members exhibiting in the event which was an increase of 9 artists when compared to 2022. There was a total of 240 framed original works hung, (including replacements), we sold 60 framed works. There was a total of 145 unframed original works displayed in browsers, and we managed to sell a total of 49 unframed original works.
Throughout the 17-day exhibition we managed to sell 109 works of art, amounting to the magnificent sum of £8,174.00. As with previous years members that sold work were encouraged to replace sold items with new works, this ensured continuous interest for the visiting public and promoted sales. This year’s exhibition generated £2,186.30 for the society, (compared to £2185.60 in 2022), This figure included raffle sales and hanging fees less expenses and after making a donation of £575.00 to the church for the use of the premises.
We are very grateful that we are able to hold the LAS exhibition in the Lavenham church and are looking forward to once again holding the 2024 exhibition in the magnificent church.
The LAS committee wishes to thank all members who took part in making the exhibition a success, for stewarding the event and giving support on “hand in” and “close down” days. A special thank you to Rita Lott and David Smeaden for their daily attendance at the church to close down each day's business.
